1. Introductory Provisions
1.1. The Service Provider
These Terms of Service (hereinafter: ToS) govern the conditions for using Secure Academic Studio (hereinafter: Service).
The operator of the Service is:
- Legal Form: Sole proprietorship
- Name: Krisztián Haga
- Registered Address: 1068 Budapest, Király utca 80., Hungary
- Registration Number: 62514615
- Tax Number: HU92181500
- General Contact: support@secureacademic.com
- Privacy Contact: privacy@secureacademic.com
(hereinafter: Service Provider)
1.2. The Hosting Provider
- Name: Hetzner Online GmbH
- Address: Industriestrasse 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany
- Data Center: Nuremberg, Germany
1.3. Scope and Acceptance of the ToS
These ToS govern the legal relationship between the Service Provider and the natural or legal person using the Service (hereinafter: User) regarding the use of the Service.
By commencing the use of the Service or by purchasing a credit pack, the User declares that they have read, understood, and accepted these ToS as binding. If the User does not accept the ToS, they are not authorized to use the Service.
1.4. Related Documents
The Service Provider's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, accessible from the footer of the site, form an inseparable part of these ToS. Detailed rules concerning the processing of personal data are contained in the Privacy Policy.
2. Definitions
- Service: the collection of online, account-free digital tools offered by Secure Academic Studio (both local and AI-based tools).
- Local (client-side) tool: a tool that runs entirely within the User's browser, where the processed data does not leave the User's device.
- AI-based tool: a tool that utilizes external artificial intelligence services (Google Cloud) for processing.
- Credit: a pre-purchased unit of account required to use the premium (AI-based) features of the Service.
- Credit Pack: the quantities of credits available for purchase (e.g., Starter, Pro, Max).
- Credit Pack Code: the anonymous code received upon purchase, which is associated with the purchased credit balance and allows the use of premium features without registration.
- Merchant of Record (MoR): the legal entity (Creem) acting as the official seller of the transaction towards the User (see Section 4).
3. Description of the Service
3.1. Nature of the Service
The Service is an online platform providing academic and financial applications. Some tools run free of charge exclusively within the User's browser; other, premium tools operate with AI assistance by consuming credits.
3.2. Account-Free Operation
The Service operates without registration and without user accounts. Accessing premium features does not require an email address, password, or any other identifier; access is granted exclusively by the anonymous Credit Pack Code.
3.3. Local and AI-based Tools
In the case of local tools, the processed files and texts do not leave the User's device. AI-based tools (e.g., Bank Statement Converter, Academic Proofreader, Audio and Video Transcription) utilize the services of Google Cloud for processing; the details of their operation and data handling are described in the Privacy Policy.
3.4. Continuous Improvement of the Service
The Service Provider reserves the right to expand, modify, or terminate the features, tools, and their availability at any time. Certain tools may be listed in a "coming soon" status.
4. Formation of Contract and Merchant of Record (Creem)
4.1. The Two-Tiered Legal Relationship
A specific feature of the purchasing process is that the Service Provider uses a Merchant of Record (MoR) provider, Creem, to manage payments and invoicing. Accordingly, the legal relationship consists of two tiers:
- Sales (Payment) Relationship: regarding the purchase of the credit pack, the User enters into a contractual relationship with Creem. Creem is the official seller of the transaction (Merchant of Record): Creem collects the purchase price, handles taxation (VAT/sales tax), and issues the invoice to the User. This relationship is governed by Creem's own Buyer Terms.
- Service Usage Relationship: regarding the actual use of the Service (consuming credits, utilizing the tools), the User is in a legal relationship with the Service Provider, which is governed by these ToS.
4.2. Creem's Terms
For matters related to payment, invoicing, and refunds associated with the purchase transaction, Creem's current terms and privacy policy apply, which are available on Creem's website (https://www.creem.io/buyer-terms). By making a purchase, the User also accepts these terms.
4.3. Time of Contract Formation
The service usage contract is concluded upon the successful purchase of the credit pack and the issuance of the Credit Pack Code, for an indefinite period, up to the amount of the purchased credits.
5. Credits and Credit Packs
5.1. The Credit System
The use of premium, AI-based tools requires the consumption of credits. The Service displays the credit cost of each operation on the user interface prior to initiating the operation (Pre-flight Check).
5.2. Credit Packs and Prices
The available credit packs and their prices are listed on the pricing page of the Service. The currently planned packs are indicative:
| Pack | Price (Indicative) |
|---|---|
| Starter | 4.99 USD |
| Pro | 14.99 USD |
| Max | 29.99 USD |
The Service Provider reserves the right to modify prices, pack compositions, and credit costs. Modifications do not affect already purchased credits.
5.3. Use and Validity of Credits
Purchased credits are tied to the Credit Pack Code. Credits can be used until the balance associated with the code is exhausted. If the Service Provider applies any expiration date to the credits, this will be clearly indicated prior to the purchase.
5.4. Handling of the Credit Pack Code
The Credit Pack Code is an anonymous, bearer access token. It is the User's responsibility to keep the code secure. Due to the nature of the account-free, anonymous operation, the Service Provider cannot identify the lawful holder of the code, and therefore assumes no liability for lost or compromised codes, or for the credits consumed therewith. We strongly advise handling the code with care.
5.5. Failed or Rejected Operations (Credit Refunds)
If an AI-based operation fails due to a technical error or due to content filtering (see Section 8.3), the credits consumed for the operation will be automatically refunded to the User's balance. This credit refund applies to the internal balance within the Service and is not equivalent to a monetary refund (see Section 7).
6. Pricing, Payment, and Invoicing
6.1. Prices and Taxes
The displayed prices will be supplemented with the appropriate tax (VAT/sales tax) applicable to the User's country on Creem's payment interface. Creem, as the Merchant of Record, is responsible for collecting and reporting the tax.
6.2. Payment Methods
The available payment methods are listed on Creem's payment interface. The User provides payment details directly on Creem's interface; the Service Provider does not see or store payment data (e.g., credit card numbers).
6.3. Invoicing
The invoice for the purchase is issued to the User by Creem, in its own name, in its capacity as Merchant of Record. The User receives the invoice from Creem at the email address provided during the purchasing process.
7. Right of Withdrawal and Refunds
7.1. Specificity of Digital Content
The Service provides digital content and digital services. Pursuant to Government Decree 45/2014 (II. 26.) on the detailed rules of contracts between consumers and businesses (Hungary), the 14-day right of withdrawal applicable to consumers cannot be exercised for contracts involving the supply of digital content if performance has begun with the consumer's prior express consent, and the consumer has acknowledged that they lose their right of withdrawal once performance has commenced.
7.2. Handling of Refunds
Since the official seller of the transaction is Creem (Merchant of Record), monetary refund requests are handled by Creem, in accordance with Creem's current refund policy and applicable consumer protection laws. The User may submit a refund request to Creem, or to the Service Provider (support@secureacademic.com), in which case the Service Provider will forward the request to Creem.
7.3. Used Credits
The value of already consumed credits (i.e., successfully completed AI operations) — given the immediate execution of the digital service — is generally non-refundable, within the frameworks of applicable consumer protection laws and Creem's policies.
8. Terms of Use and Acceptable Use
8.1. General Rules of Conduct
The User agrees to use the Service exclusively for lawful purposes, in compliance with these ToS, applicable laws, and with respect for the rights of third parties.
8.2. Prohibited Conduct
The User is expressly prohibited from:
- uploading or processing content that violates the law, infringes upon the rights of a third party, or constitutes a criminal offense;
- circumventing the security or technical limitations of the Service, or disrupting or overloading the operation of the Service;
- using the Service in an automated, abusive manner, or in a way contrary to its intended purpose;
- manipulating the credit system or the Credit Pack Code system, or evading payment obligations.
8.3. Content Filtering
AI-based tools employ the built-in safety filters of Google Cloud, which automatically reject the processing of unlawful content — particularly content related to child sexual abuse — or content that violates the provider's terms. In such cases, the operation will not be executed, and the consumed credits will be refunded to the balance.
The User acknowledges that, under applicable international and national laws, technology providers may be subject to reporting obligations to competent authorities upon detecting certain unlawful content. This obligation applies to all technology providers and does not originate from the individual practices of the Service Provider.
8.4. Third-Party Data
If the User processes content that includes the data or voices of third parties (e.g., when transcribing an audio recording), it is the User's sole responsibility to ensure appropriate notification and — if necessary — the consent of the data subjects.
8.5. Age Requirement
Purchasing credit packs and concluding a contract for the Service is available to persons who have reached the age of 18 and possess full legal capacity. The Service is not directed at persons under 16, and the Service Provider does not knowingly process data from persons under 16.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1. Service Provider's Rights
The Service, its source code, design, logos, name, and all other intellectual creations constitute the intellectual property of the Service Provider (or its licensors). The User is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within the framework of these ToS.
9.2. User Content and Results
The content uploaded by the User and the results generated by the Service (e.g., transcript, proofread text, converted spreadsheet) belong to the User. The Service Provider acquires no rights over them and — in accordance with the stateless operation described in the Privacy Policy — does not store them.
10. Warranties, Disclaimers, and Limitation of Liability
10.1. Provision of the Service "As Is"
The Service Provider provides the Service with expected diligence, on an "as is" basis. The Service Provider does not guarantee the uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous availability of the Service.
10.2. Accuracy of AI Results
The User expressly acknowledges that the results of AI-based tools (Bank Statement Converter, Academic Proofreader, Audio and Video Transcription, etc.) are not guaranteed to be accurate or flawless. AI-generated outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. It is the User's responsibility to verify and review the results prior to use.
10.3. Not Professional Advice
The tools of the Service and their results do not constitute financial, accounting, legal, academic, or other professional advice, and do not replace the services of a qualified professional. The processing of financial data (e.g., bank statement conversion) is solely an auxiliary tool; it is the User's responsibility to verify the accuracy of the processed financial data. When using academic tools, the User must adhere to their own institution's rules regarding academic integrity.
10.4. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service Provider shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of the Service or the utilization of the AI results, including in particular lost profits, loss of data, or business damages. This clause does not limit the Service Provider's liability in cases where exclusion is prohibited by law (e.g., damage caused intentionally, or resulting in loss of life, or harm to physical integrity or health).
11. Data Processing
Detailed information regarding the data processing carried out during the use of the Service is provided by the Service Provider in a separate Privacy Policy, which is accessible from the footer of the site. The Service operates with a privacy-centric, stateless architecture; details are contained in the Privacy Policy.
12. Modification, Suspension, and Termination of the Service
12.1. Maintenance and Suspension
The Service Provider is entitled to temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, development, or other technical reasons. The Service Provider will endeavor to provide prior notice of planned outages whenever possible.
12.2. Termination of the Service
The Service Provider reserves the right to terminate the Service entirely or in part. In the event of definitive termination, the Service Provider will endeavor to provide a fair solution for Users holding unused, valid credits, within the frameworks of applicable laws.
12.3. Restriction of Access
The Service Provider is entitled to restrict or terminate the access of any User who violates these ToS.
13. Complaint Handling and Dispute Resolution
13.1. Reporting Complaints
- Complaints regarding the use of the Service: may be reported to the Service Provider at support@secureacademic.com.
- Complaints regarding payment, invoicing, or refunds: are handled primarily by Creem (Merchant of Record), or can be forwarded via the Service Provider.
The Service Provider will investigate incoming complaints within a reasonable time and inform the User of the outcome of the investigation.
13.2. Consumer Disputes
If the User qualifies as a consumer and disagrees with the response given to their complaint, they may turn to the following forums:
- Conciliation Board: to the competent conciliation board based on the consumer's place of residence or stay. The contact details of the arbitration board competent according to the Provider's registered office are: Budapesti Békéltető Testület, 1016 Budapest, Krisztina krt. 99. 3st floor, App. 310., mailing address: 1253 Budapest, Pf. 10., E-mail: bekelteto.testulet@bkik.hu
- Consumer Protection Authority: the regionally competent consumer protection authority (government office).
- Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform: the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform for out-of-court settlement of consumer disputes.
Please note that the official seller of the purchasing (payment) relationship is Creem, thus for purely payment-related consumer disputes, Creem's relevant procedures and jurisdiction may also apply.
14. Miscellaneous and Final Provisions
14.1. Modification of the ToS
The Service Provider is entitled to unilaterally modify these ToS at any time. The modified ToS enters into force upon publication on the site. Continued use of the Service following modification constitutes acceptance of the modified ToS. The currently effective ToS is accessible from the footer of the site.
14.2. Partial Invalidity
Should any provision of these ToS prove to be invalid or unenforceable, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
14.3. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These ToS and the service usage relationship between the Service Provider and the User are governed by Hungarian law. Without prejudice to the mandatory legal protection granted to consumers, Hungarian courts shall have jurisdiction to settle disputes. The purchasing (payment) relationship is governed by Creem's relevant terms and the jurisdiction specified therein.
14.4. Contact
